Appologies and a new post!

First off: Sorry for not updating in a while. I went out of the country for a few weeks. Then when I came back I had about a week to move back to uni before starting my work placement (that's basically an internship to the American readers). So things have been a bit hectic and I've not had much chance to post.

On to the actual post then!
Baka Test (Baka to Test to Shōkanjū for full or "Iditos, Tests and Special Summons" for English (though translation differs)).

This anime is a slapstick comedy with romantic and fantasy themes. The premis is a school places students in a class at the start of the year (via a test to decided who goes where (better grades mean a better class, "A" being the best, and F" being the lowest class)). The better classes are rewarded by having better classrooms, facilities and what not (lavish comfy seats and individual study laptops for class A) whilst the worse classes have worse facilities (class F getting cardboard boxes for desks and cushions to sit on)

What makes the school special however is that classes can "challenge" each other. This means they will summon their "beasts" (sort of like a miniature version of themselves), and the strength/Health of the beasts are determined by the pupils score on the last test in a given Subject (depends on the closest teacher generally). The winner (achieved by beating the opposing classes class Rep's beast) then has the right to exchange rooms and facilities with the loser (meaning even if your class starts out with next to nothing if you work hard you can work your way up to nicer things).

There are of course rules in place to stop classes just challenging each other every day (for instances losers have to wait 3 months before they can issue a challenge).
The "main" characters are diverse and varied. The main character a poor dimwit, his friends being a voyeur, a guy that's consistently referred to as a girl (to the extent he gets his own changing room/bathroom) and his close, street smart friend. The female cast include an shy intelligent girl (who is the cause for the driving plot), a somewhat self conscious athletic girl and a social inept "stalker" (of sorts). There are other recurring characters, but these are the main.

The show is generally laugh after laugh (usually at the expense of one of the characters), and includes romantic (/sexual) themes (often also leading to comedic situations).

The first season is approximately 12 episodes long, followed by 2 OVAs, and the second season is airing at the time of writing this (about 5 episodes in).
I decided to write about this show because I personally think it's one of the funniest things I've seen (in terms of anime at least, if not just generally), in a long time. It consistently has me in a fit of laughter while watching and would definitely recommend watching it if you're looking for some laughs (and can deal with slight sexual themes)

Once again apologies for the long delay between posts. I'll try an build these up in a buffer and have them auto post in the future!

  1. Baka to Test was an anime I watched for a few eps but I had to drop just because of the service, but I liked the comedic moments.
